A hand mixer is a great accompaniment to a stand mixer. They are portable and can be used in most mixing bowls or piece of cookware. A hand mixer is usually the first item on the list when equipping a new kitchen. They are inexpensive and are easy to store. Below are my favorites.
KitchenAid 9 Speed KHM926CU: In my mind, the KitchenAid 9 speed hand mixer is my favorite hand mixers. The KitchenAid is quiet and is comfortable in your hand. It has a smooth start that keeps your flour from flying all over your kitchen. My favorite feature of this hand mixer is that you can rest the mixer on the counter by tilting it backwards. The back of the mixer is flat so it stays upright.
Kitchenaid 7 Speed KHM7210CU: The slightly less expensive cousin of the Kitchenaid 9 Speed hand mixer is the 7 speed. The main difference between these two mixers is the 7 speed does not come with dough hooks, a blending rod, or a storage bag. If those tools are not useful to you, the 7 speed is a great option!
Cuisinart Power Advantage 9 Speed HM-90S: This mixer has a very interesting feature that I haven’t seen on other hand mixers: it comes with a storage box that attaches to the base of the mixer. This storage box can be used for the mixer attachments. It is a 9 speed mixer that comes with beaters, dough hooks, and a whisk.
Breville Hand Mixer BHM800SIL: The Breville Handy Mix is interesting because it comes with beaters that have a scraper feature. The beaters have silicone at the bottom that “scrapes” the bowl as you mix. I really like the look and feel of this mixer. It is lightweight and quiet.
